FrameNotes is a small independent website about eyewear: sunglasses, glasses frames and the jewelry brands that sell alongside them. We publish brand catalogs with live prices, specification-based reviews and plain-language buying guides.
What we do
Most sites about frames either republish retailer marketing without checking it or cover products most people will never buy. We sit in between. For each brand we track, we pull the full catalog from the retailer's own store data, record the key specifications and price of every model, and keep that list current. On top of the catalog we write a review that explains what the specifications mean in practice: where the money goes, what the trade-offs are, and who each model suits.
What we don't do
- We don't sell frames. Every "Shop" button takes you to the retailer's own website, where you deal with them directly.
- We don't claim hands-on testing we haven't done. Where a review is based on published specifications, policies and store data rather than use, we say so.
- We don't publish user reviews, star ratings or testimonials that we can't verify. Our ratings are editorial opinions, labelled as such.
- We don't let affiliate commissions decide what we write. See how we make money.
How the catalogs work
Catalog pages such as our James Oro catalog are built from the retailer's public product feed. Prices, sale prices and stock status are refreshed on the date shown at the top of each page. Specifications in the tables are taken from the retailer's product listings; our commentary is our own. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it.
Who writes FrameNotes
A small editorial team with a long-running interest in frames. We write under the desk byline rather than individual names. Reach us through the contact page.
Editorial standards
Every page shows the date its prices were last checked. Reviews list both strengths and weaknesses. Comparisons name real alternatives at similar prices. Corrections are made in place and noted at the bottom of the page when they change a conclusion. Our full rating method is on the How we rate page.
